2 Baybayin characters deconstructed but connected to represent Ma-Ha (Mahal). We didn’t need the L character because we had the context to each other. We knew the words each person in our angkan would speak and their role within the tribe. As time went, we lost that. I like to write calligraphy art traditionally not to communicate directly but to have a deeper conversation born out of questions and confusion. Mahal in the Philippines means love and expensive. The root is Arabic meaning hall but most likely came via the Indians. Did you hear of the Taj Mahal and the story behind it? My theory is that we put two and two together and realized that love is expensive so used the same word.
